Ρetroffit of fire-damaged reinforced concrete slab by means of innovative cost saving technique

Project: Reinforced concrete Slab damaged by the fire of summer of 2018 exhibited spalling across its surface along with degradation of the mechanical properties of Concrete and its adhesion to reinforcing bars (pictures 1, 2 at the end of the article).

The  retrofit design of the slab was based on utilization of  fine Polymer Modified High Performance Concrete, http://www.tectaconcrete.com/el/beton-konies-poly-ypsilis-antoxis,  to restore the section of the Slab after the removal  of the damaged concrete parts. The technique  provided for the use of concretan board , https://www.concretan.com/portfolio/conetan-board/  as permanent shuttering and at the same time as insulation of the slab.

Final features of the technique : High Reliability, technical effectiveness and cost saving in comparison with the traditionally used.
